What brands of equipment does IMC service and install?

    We service and install all makes and models of residential heating and cooling equipment.

Is there a charge for diagnosing what is wrong with my system?

    Yes, we charge a basic diagnostic fee of $85 for a professional Service Technician to come to your location, inspect your system and
    provide you with a diagnosis. When you add up the costs of salaries, travel time, tools and equipment, vehicles, insurance, and fuel, our
    service charge fee is quite reasonable. Other companies may try to bait you with “No Service Charge” or a falsely low service charge,
    however, we’d advise you that nobody gets a “Free Lunch”.  That is, you are going to pay for the service call one way or the other. At IMC,    
    we choose to be upfront and fair about it: No Gimmicks!

Can you tell me exactly how much this job will cost?

    In our many years of experience, IMC has found that customers prefer an accurate price based on their exact problem. Companies that offer
    phone quotes are quick to say they are subject to change once their technician diagnoses the problem. We do not feel this is fair to the
    customer. IMC relies on our strong onsite diagnostic procedure, including a complete inspection of your system that provides you with a
    diagnosis of your problem for a small and reasonable diagnostic fee of $85**. Once our diagnostic procedure is performed, you will be
    shown exactly what the problem is, what the solution is, and how much it will cost. Then, and only then, do you authorize the work to be
    performed.

    **Basic diagnosis. We will give prices up front concerning comprehensive refrigerant leak scans or for searches for difficult electrical
    problems, which are charged separately.

How often should I change my filter?

    Checking your filter often (every month) will help you determine how often yours needs to be changed. It is recommended that the filter be
    changed at the beginning of the heating season and the beginning of the cooling season if you have central air conditioning.

Should I have my Heating & Cooling system serviced every year?

    Yes. Keeping your system properly maintained will lower energy and repair costs, prevent breakdowns and extend the life of your
    equipment. Ignoring necessary maintenance will guarantee a steady decline the system performance while energy use steadily increases.

My utility bills are high. Will a new furnace and air conditioner lower my bills?

    Yes. A new 14 SEER air conditioner can usually cut the electricity used by the old air conditioner by up to 50%. A new 90% furnace can
    usually cut the gas used by the old furnace by as much as 30%, and a new 80% efficient furnace (minimum allowed by the federal
    government) will use approximately 20% less.

How does IMC determine what size of furnace and air conditioner to install?

    IMC’s comfort consultants will use ACCA’S Manual J to measure and calculate the actual heating & cooling load on the home. ACCA's
    Manual J is the first step in the design process of a new heating and air conditioning system. By following the Manual J methodology, we
    are able to accurately determine the total amount of heat that is lost through the exterior of a home during the cooler months, and the total
    amount of heat that is gained through the exterior of a home during the warmer months This can determine the proper size of equipment
    and duct work that is needed. This will be compared to your current equipment and duct work and can be adjusted based on your unique
    needs.

How much will my new system cost?

    Because every home is different and a central heating and air conditioning system is not an off-the-shelf product, it requires a licensed
    professional dealer to assess and install a system that’s right for your home. There is no MSRP. Multiple factors enter into the purchase
    price of your new system such as the size and age of your home, condition of the interior duct work inside your home and they level of
    equipment you select.

Does it matter which brand of equipment I choose?

    All  equipment manufacturers offer nearly identical equipment. There are legitimate reasons to choose one brand of equipment over
    another. Each manufacturer has strengths and weaknesses. But guess what? They all beak down sooner or later. However, the dealer
    you buy from, the level of equipment you buy, and the way the equipment is installed,dictates how long your equipment will last and how
    much you enjoy your new system far more than its brand.

Are seasonal maintenance plans worth the investment?    

    Each spring before the cooling season and each fall before the heating system, you should get a tune-up to ensure your HVAC system is
    ready for the season. By spending a little twice a year, you can save a lot in energy bills by keeping your system operating at peak efficiency.
    You also can avoid costly repairs by identifying and fixing minor problems before they turn into major issues. Plus, many homeowners don’t
    realize that their manufacturer warranties may be considered invalid if they are not getting their unit serviced twice a year. Give IMC a call to
